Cat’s most recent pattern, the Lanelands Shawl is of course available as an OPAF pattern!
The Lanelands Shawl is inspired by leafy garden vines interlacing themselves through trellis as they climb towards the sun. A mixture of intarsia, short rows, a simple cable and some lace creates an interesting and unusual combination of colour, detail and textural interest. Lanelands is knit from end to end, starting with the block colour side panels that are detailed with the simple but effective lacey cable patterns and a neat I-cord edge. As the shawl progresses, these decorative panels split to reveal a two-colour garter stitch centre panel that makes up the main body of the shawl. The knots in the fabric at each end, a quirky twist, are intended to intensify the mix of colour and texture as the fabric wraps around itself, not unlike those garden vines wrapping around each other as they grow.
