The Pattern Manager app is now LIVE on the App Store and Google Play and we would love for you to try it out!
If you don’t already know, Pattern Manager is our free reference app for reading and managing OPAF patterns. With Pattern Manager, reading patterns is fully interactive. Check off instructions as you go and take advantage of integrated repeat counters. Click on an abbreviation to view the full description. Load interactive charts for relevant instructions. Follow links to videos or tutorials recommended by the designer. Yarn colours can be chosen to reflect the project and colour changes are clearly shown in the pattern instructions.
Regardless of whether you prefer to read a pattern and track progress on a phone, tablet, laptop or paper OPAF has you covered.
The ‘Debut’ Pattern
The Garter Squish Beanie by OPAF co-creator Cat Ware, is the first pattern available in the format. It is a great example that shows many of the fantastic features that OPAF and Pattern manager has to offer.
More Patterns, More Designers
Cat is currently in the process of creating OPAF files for all of her patterns. Knitters who have previously purchased her patterns will receive a pattern update which will include the new OPAF file, free of charge. Then, with every new pattern sale, the OPAF file will automatically be available alongside the PDF version.
Another fantastic benefit of OPAF is, like a PDF, designers will own a physical file which they can distribute to their customers using any method they choose. Soon, there will be a Pattern Creator Tool enabling other designers to create OPAF patterns too but in the meantime, if you are a designer and would like to see what OPAF can do for your patterns please do get in contact with us!
